Thursday Book Review: When You are Englufed in Flames, David Sedaris

February 11, 2010

I’m going to go ahead and stick with this weeks’ theme of “laughing for the health of it,”  and pick another humor book to recommend.  If David Sedaris’ When You are Englufed in Flames doesn’t make you laugh with your whole body, you’re probably broken.  Seriously.  This is some funny writing.

Two years ago, I had the pleasure of listening to Mr. Sedaris read some of the essays in this book.  Holy crow!  What an evening! I laughed and laughed and laughed some more.

I am convinced that David Sedaris can make anything funny.   Anything.  He’s sarcastic and witty and one heck of a writer.  Don’t look to When You are Englufed in Flames for intellectual stimulation.  Instead, look to it as the ultimate guide on how to squeeze the funny out of even the must mundane or absurd situation.

I encourage you to pick up this book.  Read it and laugh with your whole body.

Enjoy!

XO,

Vicki

PS  Once you’re done with this one, you’ll want more, I guarantee it.  Pick up “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” it’s awesome, too!
