Broadway in Chicago Brings Me Joy!

March 21, 2010

I come from a family of great gift-givers.

We all put a whole lotta effort into picking gifts we think our love ones will adore.

The last three Christmases Tom, Tommy and Christy have given everyone tickets for a Broadway show in Chicago.

Best. Gift. Ever!

The shows are pure magic.

This year we’re seeing “Beauty and the Beast,” and we can’t wait (only 2 more weeks!!).

Last year we saw “Mary Poppins.”

It was, indeed, practically perfect in every way.

(Especially when Mary literally flew right over our front-row-of-the-balcony-seats.)

My kids sang super-cala for months.  They still wear the shirts from that show.

The year before we saw “Wicked.”

All I can say is “WOW!”  That was the show of a lifetime

I would love to see it again (and again!) it was that good.

Tom, Tommy and Christy always give us the soundtrack with the tickets.  We listen to the soundtracks over and over again before the show.  The kids have the songs memorized before we even get there.  I think it makes the show even more special for them.

As an added bonus (as if we needed another bonus!) my brother has a friend who plays in the pit orchestra for many of the Broadway in Chicago shows.  His friend gave us a guided tour backstage after Wicked and Mary Poppins.  We all got to stand on the stage and see how they make the magic.

Fabulous!

Looking for a special gift for your loved ones?  How about tickets to a show?  I love this tradition my brothers and Christy have started.  I know my kids will always remember the magical shows they got to see every year.

Way better than any toy.

Happy Sunday!
XO,

Vicki

We agree with every word in today’s blog. The only thing we enjoy more than the shows are watching our grandchildren enthralled. Unforgettable weekends indeed. Hope we have many more!
