Scenes from the Party

June 6, 2010

Howdy!  Long time, no write! Sorry I’ve been MIA the last couple of days;  it’s been a whirlwind of fun the last couple of days.  School ended on Friday and three hours later we were celebrating the start of summer 2010!  The kids wanted to keep it simple:  hotdogs on the grill, night games and s’mores made around a fire.  The perfect recipe for a fun time.

I planned a few “old fashion” games, including a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood.  Each group worked together to be the first to locate  the 20 different items I came up with (a Diet Dr. Pepper can, a piece of Big Red gum, a Neenah School District envelope, etc.).

While the kids were out running around, John and I got all the picnic food ready.  Everyone was hungry after the big hunt!

After dinner we played water games, including “Survivor Buckets,” where two teams competed against each other to empty one bucket by throwing the water into another bucket.  Needless to say, everyone ended up soaked.

Of course, once you’re wet, there’s only one thing to do:  water balloon fight!

There’s nothing like good times with good friends.

The summer fun has just begun!  Yay for summer 2010!

Here’s to a summer full of hotdogs, mustard and relish.

What a great way to start the summer — just the beginning of much fun to come.
